Heb je nog nooit met de motor aan de linkerzijde van de weg gereden? Dan weet je niet wat je hebt mist. Engeland, Wales, Ierland en Schotland bieden prachtige landschappen, weinig flitspalen en vriendelijke locals die je graag de weg wijzen of willen uitnodigen in hun favoriete pub. We staan er niet van te kijken wanneer je binnen 5 minuten met iedereen binnen bevriend bent geraakt.
Tijdens het motorrijden beleef je meer zintuiglijke ervaringen dan wanneer je in de auto zit. Je hoort, voelt en ziet meer wanneer je op een motor rijdt. Het is ook een stuk uitdagender omdat je met slechte weersomstandigheden goed geconcentreerd moet blijven. Het is natuurlijk een stuk leuker om met je eigen motor te rijden. Wij verzorgen daarom graag je reis naar Engeland, Wales, Ireland en Schotland zodat je met je eigen motor deze indrukkwekkende motorroutes kunt ervaren.
Het zijn ongeveer 2400 kilometers, 9 overnachtingen via Stenaline, Colchester, Salisbury, Swansea, Wexford, Enniskillen, Letterkenny, Bushmills, Stranraer, Buttermere en natuurlijk de overnachting terug op de boot van Newcastle naar IJmuiden met een gemiddelde afstand van ca. 290 kilometer per dag is er genoeg tijd voor pauzes, lunch en een drankje in de Pub bij aankomst. Vrijdag de 21.6.2024 starten we om 13:30 op de boot naar Harwich en eindigen op 1.7.2024 in IJmuiden om 9:45 in de ochtend. Let op deze rit is gelimiteerd tot maximaal 12 personen en ‘by invitation only’, dus niet ‘first come first serve’.
Vereisten, je bent geoefende motorrijder en hebt ervaring in het rijden met een groep, je hebt een adequaat onderhouden motor bij HD in Amsterdam en draagt bij aan de beleving in de groep, je bent behulpzaam, stressvrij en vindt het een enorme uitdaging om in een groep naar de British Isles en Ierland te rijden.
Met in totaal 4 ferry’s, Nederland – Engeland, Wales – Ierland, Noord-Ierland – Schotland en Engeland – Nederland is timing belangrijk, de reis is gepland dat we de deadlines gaan halen maar toch kunnen genieten van landmarks zoals, stone henge, Cheddar Gorge in de Mendip Hills, The Clifton Suspension Bridge , Wicklow Gap, Powerscourt mountains, Guinnes brewery, North Atlantic Way, Bushmills, de Lake district en nog veel meer.
De reis begint in Hoek van Holland en eindigt in IJmuiden. Op de pont van Hoek van Holland naar Harwich leren we elkaar beter kennen en na het aanleggen van de ferry, hebben we ’s avonds al de gelegenheid voor een typisch bezoek aan de sfeer in een Britse pub.
Zaterdag ochtend vertrekken we bijtijds om via de bovenkant van London Wembley stadion naar de county Wiltshire te rijden. Voordat we de ferry naar Ierland gaan nemen, hebben we nog één overnachting in Wales. Aangekomen in Ierland rijden we eerst naar Dublin, dan steken we schuin over richting Enniskillen. Dan wordt het nog mooier om via de Wild Atlantic Way en de Causeway het noordelijkste stukje Ierland en Noord-Ierland te gaan rijden.
Aan een bezoek aan de Harley Dealers in Dublin en Belfast komen we ook niet voorbij en Belfast natuurlijk de stad waar de Titanic ooit begon aan de reis waar eenieder het einde weet na te vertellen, op een “dr”enkeling na. De reis met de ferry van Belfast naar Schotland duurt ongeveer 2 uur. Ook hier geldt het op tijd te zijn om daarna door de landschappen het Galloway Forest Park in Schotland naar het noorden van Engeland te rijden. Dan maar te zwijgen in het Lake District, één van de mooiste landschappen in Groot-Brittannië, bij het hier rijden door dit landschap moet je oppassen dat je je mond dichthoudt en dat gaat niet meevallen. Met een overnachting in Buttermere zijn we bijna bij het einde gekomen van deze onvergetelijke reis. In Newcastle stappen we op de ferry om na een gezellige avond met diner en een show waar naar een nachtrust in de kajuit weer in Nederland aan te komen.
De kosten hangen van een aantal factoren af, maar je moet rekening houden met een budget van ca. Euro 1.800,00 dit is all-in inclusief benzine, ontbijt, lunch (broodje) en avondeten en drankjes (zonder mixdrankjes) op basis van een tweepersoonskamer en kajuit op de boot terug. Alternatief kunnen we ervoor kiezen de heenreis te starten via de eurotunnel en daarna naar Stonehenge te rijden. Ook kunnen de hotels nog veranderen, afhankelijk van de beschikbaarheid en de wens voor twee of eenpersoonskamer.
Schrijf ons waarom je graag mee zou willen met deze reis, samen met een foto van je motor en jezelf en laat weten of je wilt dat je partner achterop ook meerijdt. Deze reis is voor eigen risico, verzekeringen etc. moet je zelf verzorgen, de reis wordt niet vanuit het Chapter organiseert.

We’re not surprised when you make friends with everyone inside within five minutes.
While riding a motorbike, you experience more sensory experiences than when you are in a car. You hear, feel, and see more when riding a motorbike. It is also a lot more challenging because you must stay focused with bad weather conditions. Of course, it is a lot more fun to ride your own motorbike. We are therefore happy to arrange your trip to England, Wales, Ireland and Scotland so that you can experience these impressive motorbike routes on your own motorbike.

Requirements: You are a practiced motorcyclist and have experience riding with a group, you have an adequately maintained motorbike at HD in Amsterdam and contribute to the experience in the group, you are helpful, stress-free and find it a huge challenge to ride in a group to the British Isles and Ireland.
With a total of four ferries, Netherlands – England, Wales – Ireland, Northern Ireland – Scotland and England – Netherlands, timing is important, the trip is planned that we will meet deadlines but still be able to enjoy landmarks such as, stone henge, The Clifton Suspension Bridge, Cheddar Gorge in the Mendip Hills, Wicklow Gap, Powerscourt mountains, Guinnes brewery, North Atlantic Way, Bushmills, the lake district and much more.
The trip starts in Hoek van Holland and ends in IJmuiden. On the ferry from Hook of Holland to Harwich, we get to know each other better and after docking the ferry, we have the opportunity for a typical visit to a British pub in the evening.
Saturday morning, we leave early to drive to the county of Wiltshire via the top of London Wembley stadium. Before catching the ferry to Ireland, we have one more overnight stay in Wales. Arriving in Ireland, we first drive to Dublin, then cross diagonally towards Enniskillen. Then it will be even nicer to ride the northernmost part of Ireland and Northern Ireland via the Wild Atlantic Way and the northern Causeway.
A visit to the Harley Dealers in Dublin and Belfast is not to be missed either, Belfast, of course, the city where the Titanic once began its journey where everyone knows how that ended except for view. The journey by ferry from Belfast to Scotland takes about 2 hours. Again, being on time applies to then driving through the landscapes the Galloway Forest Park in Scotland to the north of England. Then to say nothing of the Lake District, one of the most beautiful landscapes in Britain, when driving through this landscape here you must be careful to keep your mouth shut and that’s not going to be easy. With an overnight stay in Buttermere, we are almost at the end of this unforgettable journey. In Newcastle, we board the ferry to arrive back in the Netherlands after a pleasant evening with dinner and a show and a night’s sleep in the cabin.
The cost depends on several factors, but you should consider a budget of around Euro 1,800.00 this is all-in including petrol, breakfast, lunch (sandwich) and dinner and drinks (without mixed drinks) based on a double room and cabin on the boat back. Alternatively, we may choose to start the outward journey via the Eurotunnel and then drive to Stonehenge. Also, hotels may still change depending on availability and desire for double or single room.

This trip is at your own risk, insurance etc. you must take care of yourself, the trip is not organized from the Amstel Chapter.
